About the Role
International Medical Corps is seeking a dedicated and qualified Medical Doctor to oversee clinical operations at its Stabilization Center (SC), delivering lifesaving care to children with severe acute malnutrition and complications. This role is central to ensuring the successful implementation of Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programs, in line with national and international clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities- Lead daily morning and evening ward rounds with nurses and nutrition assistants, ensuring proper documentation of patient care.
- Supervise clinical management of all admitted patients, coordinating closely with CMAM assistants and the Nutrition Manager.
- Provide direct leadership and supervision to SC staff, including nurses, nutrition assistants, cleaners, and guards.
- Administer emergency procedures, intravenous therapies, and resuscitation as required.
- Ensure proper storage, prescription, and accountability of medicines and nutrition-related commodities.
- Mentor and train nurses and health workers on stabilization care protocols and documentation.
- Coordinate timely referrals of complicated SAM cases from OTPs to the SC and vice versa.
- Collect, analyze, and report quality data on SC activities to the Nutrition Manager and stakeholders.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Health, WHO, and other partners to strengthen program outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with admission, discharge, and treatment protocols across all program components.
- Maintain respectful, dignified care for beneficiaries, caregivers, and community members.
- Support procurement compliance, asset management, and timely staff timesheet submissions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Nutrition Manager or Coordinator.
- Registered Medical Doctor from a recognized university, with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
- Valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Experience implementing nutrition intervention programs is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of nutrition/health surveillance and reporting systems.
- Proven experience conducting training on health, nutrition, CMAM, and IYCF.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and coach clinical and community health staff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa.
- Computer literate in Word and Excel.
