About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a qualified and dedicated Diversity, Inclusion, and Safeguarding Specialist to join our impactful research-for-development team at the headquarters in Ibadan, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will champion organizational equity by embedding safeguarding standards, gender equality, and disability inclusion across all project frameworks to improve livelihoods in Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding strategies aligned with institutional and donor standards.
- Mainstream gender equality, disability inclusion, and safeguarding practices across all project work plans and interventions.
- Provide technical guidance and capacity building on inclusive program design, prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH).
- Establish robust, confidential reporting and response mechanisms for safeguarding concerns in compliance with Nigerian legislation.
- Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) teams to track inclusion indicators and generate evidence on program impact.
- Engage actively with women, youth groups, organizations of persons with disabilities, and other marginalized stakeholders.
- Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in diversity and inclusion, gender equality, safeguarding, or social protection.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing training programs and integrating safeguarding risk mitigation into donor-funded projects.
- Deep knowledge of Nigerian legal frameworks regarding child protection, gender equality, and disability inclusion.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with a high standard of integrity and empathy.
