The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), a premier tertiary healthcare institution in Nigeria, is currently offering dynamic opportunities for qualified individuals to join our team as Dietetics Interns. Established in 1973, UBTH is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical research, and providing world-class training for healthcare professionals. As a Dietetics Intern, you will work alongside experienced clinical dietitians in a bustling 500-bed hospital environment, gaining invaluable practical experience in nutritional assessment, medical nutrition therapy, and community health promotion across Edo and Delta states.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior dietitians in conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments for in-patients and out-patients.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized medical nutrition therapy plans for various clinical conditions.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and multidisciplinary healthcare team consultations.
- Provide evidence-based dietary counseling and education to patients and their families.
- Assist in conducting research activities focused on local morbidity burdens and nutritional interventions.
- Perform any other related professional duties assigned by the Hospital Management and supervising officers.
- Possession of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized university.
- Must possess provisional registration or the requisite eligibility for registration with the relevant professional regulatory body in Nigeria.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
