About the Role
The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), a leading tertiary healthcare institution in Nigeria, is currently seeking dedicated and qualified candidates for the position of Histopathology Intern. Located in Benin City, Edo State, UBTH is renowned for excellence in medical training, cutting-edge research, and comprehensive patient care. As an intern in our Department of Histopathology, you will work alongside seasoned medical professionals and pathologists, gaining profound practical experience in tissue processing, diagnostic support, and laboratory management within a dynamic and supportive academic hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior pathologists and laboratory scientists in tissue preparation, sectioning, and staining procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory specimens and ensure proper labeling and cataloging.
- Participate in departmental research initiatives, post-mortem examinations, and clinicopathological conferences.
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures, laboratory safety protocols, and quality control measures.
- Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned by the Hospital Management and authorized supervising officers.
- Possession of a recognized University Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS) or a relevant medical science discipline from a reputable institution.
- Must possess provisional or temporary registration with the relevant professional regulatory body in Nigeria.
- Demonstrated strong academic foundation and keen interest in anatomical pathology and medical research.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
