Dr. Peter Odili Cancer & Cardiovascular Hospital (POCCH) is a premier tertiary healthcare institution in Port Harcourt, dedicated to delivering advanced, compassionate medical care at international standards. We specialize in oncology, cardiovascular medicine, renal care, advanced surgery, and precision diagnostics. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Dialysis Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing comprehensive renal care, ensuring safety, comfort, and clinical excellence for every patient undergoing hemodialysis and related treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatments, promptly reporting any adverse reactions or critical changes.
- Prepare, prime, and operate dialysis machines and related equipment in accordance with strict hospital protocols and safety standards.
- Administer prescribed medications, blood products, and intravenous fluids while strictly adhering to infection control guidelines.
- Educate patients and their families on renal health management, dietary restrictions, fluid balance, and home-care practices.
- Maintain accurate, detailed electronic medical records of patient treatments, vital signs, and clinical progress.
- Collaborate closely with nephrologists, physicians, and other multidisciplinary healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Post-basic certification in Nephrology Nursing or relevant specialized dialysis training is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of active clinical experience in a dedicated dialysis unit or renal care setting.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal abilities to support vulnerable patients.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and medical documentation.
