About the Role
BusinessDay, Nigeria's premier business and financial daily newspaper, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Deputy Sales Manager for Conferences to join our commercial team in Lagos. In this vital role, you will champion revenue generation across our prestigious conferences, high-profile corporate events, and digital subscription products, leveraging our strong market reputation to secure valuable partnerships.
Key Responsibilities- Drive aggressive sales for BusinessDay conferences, events, and digital subscription products by identifying high-value prospects and building robust sales pipelines.
- Conduct professional sales calls, pitches, and meetings with corporate clients, senior executives, and key decision-makers to close lucrative B2B and B2C deals.
- Prepare, tailor, and present comprehensive commercial proposals and manage end-to-end contract negotiations in alignment with company policies.
- Collaborate closely with the events team to secure conference sponsorships and drive delegate sales, ensuring event commercial targets are met or exceeded.
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships with corporate clients, partners, and subscribers to maximize retention and lifetime value.
- Track daily sales performance against set revenue targets and provide actionable feedback to editorial and marketing teams to enhance customer experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven track record in B2B sales, subscription sales, pipeline management, and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to pitch persuasively to senior-level stakeholders.
- Strong contract negotiation skills and the ability to structure mutually beneficial commercial agreements.
- Prior experience in event management, conference sponsorship acquisition, and delegate sales within a media or corporate environment.
- Proficiency in using CRM software, MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), and basic data analytics for performance tracking.
