About the Role

Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking a strategic and results-driven Deputy General Manager, Mechanical Maintenance for our state-of-the-art cement plant. In this vital leadership role, you will spearhead comprehensive mechanical maintenance operations, ensuring optimal asset reliability and driving operational excellence across our manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage the mechanical maintenance team to ensure peak operational performance and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Develop, implement, and rigorously monitor proactive preventive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Manage departmental budgets effectively, collaborating closely with procurement to secure critical materials, spare parts, and specialized equipment.
  • Formulate and execute strategic plans for the systematic replacement, modernization, and upgrading of aging machinery.
  • Generate comprehensive reports detailing maintenance activities, KPI metrics, and equipment reliability trends for senior management.
  • Ensure total plant compliance with all statutory health, safety, environmental, and regulatory policies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production and other operational departments to foster seamless workflow synergy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 24 years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance within heavy industry, specifically within cement manufacturing plants.
  • Extensive expert-level knowledge of cement plant machinery, heavy equipment, and complex industrial processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a proven track record of managing large, diverse engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Proficiency in enterprise resource planning software, specifically SAP, alongside robust competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong financial acumen with hands-on experience in budget management, strategic procurement, and inventory control.
