About the Role
The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE) was established on March 14, 2024, with the mandate to improve the healthcare needs of Nigerians and increase manpower output in the sector. Following its transformation from the former Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, the institution has experienced rapid growth into a university comprising six faculties and 17 departments. To support this ongoing expansion and ensure robust financial governance, we are currently seeking a qualified and visionary Deputy Bursar to join our executive management team.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Deputy Bursar, you will assist the Bursar in the daily administration and control of the financial affairs of the university. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Assisting in the formulation and implementation of comprehensive financial policies, guidelines, and internal control systems.
- Overseeing the preparation of annual budgets, financial statements, and periodic reports in compliance with statutory regulations.
- Managing revenue collection, expenditure control, payroll administration, and general ledger maintenance.
- Providing strategic financial advice to university management regarding capital projects, investments, and resource allocation.
- Liaising with external auditors, government regulatory agencies, and financial institutions on behalf of the university.
- Mentoring, supervising, and evaluating finance department staff to promote high performance and professional development.
To be considered for the Deputy Bursar position at FUAHSE, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must possess a good university degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Must hold a recognized professional accounting qualification such as ACA, FCA, ACCA, or ANAN.
- Must have significant post-qualification cognate experience in financial management, preferably within a tertiary institution or the public sector.
- Demonstrated competence in financial strategy, integrity, strong administrative capability, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in modern financial management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and public sector accounting standards.
- A high level of commitment to the strategic objectives and institutional vision of the university.
