About the Role

Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Decarbonisation Specialist to join our sustainability team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will champion our commitment to environmental excellence by leading strategic carbon reduction initiatives across our cement operations, ensuring alignment with our comprehensive decarbonisation roadmap and global sustainability targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the implementation of plant and group-level decarbonisation roadmaps in alignment with corporate sustainability targets.
  • Evaluate and monitor CO2 emissions throughout the cement production process to identify high-impact reduction opportunities.
  • Manage the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) process, including Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate with alternative fuel teams and procurement to optimize raw material substitution and energy efficiency.
  • Assess and support pilot projects focusing on emerging technologies, limestone calcined clay, and research and development.
  • Maintain accurate greenhouse gas inventories for Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions in compliance with the GHG Protocol and GCCA benchmarks.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant climate policies, regulatory frameworks, and green financing requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is highly advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within the cement industry, heavy manufacturing, or environmental sustainability.
  • At least 2 years of dedicated experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and carbon management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cement manufacturing processes and industrial decarbonisation technologies such as CCUS and alternative fuels.
  • Exceptional project management, data analysis, and cross-functional communication skills.
