About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building a robust financial ecosystem for businesses. We are currently looking for a strategic and seasoned Data Privacy & Protection Director to lead our compliance department, reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. In this pivotal role, you will oversee our entire data protection strategy, driving the implementation of policies and procedures that safeguard personal data and maintain our strong reputation for data security across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Implement a comprehensive data privacy governance framework to manage data use in full compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other relevant regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison for the Nigeria Data Privacy Commission (NDPC), regulatory authorities, financial institutions, and customers.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to conduct thorough Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) prior to new deployments.
- Coordinate with information security teams to maintain active data breach response plans, retention structures, and processing records.
- Direct internal and external privacy audits in partnership with Data Privacy Compliance Organizations (DPCOs) and drive continuous stakeholder training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree is highly preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on data protection and compliance experience within a complex regulatory landscape.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CIPM, CIPP, CDPSE, or CDPO.
- Demonstrated mastery of the NDPA 2023, financial sector compliance structures, and regulatory liaison management.
