About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a leading indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos State, Nigeria, dedicated to operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable energy growth. We are currently seeking a skilled Data Manager to lead our technical data governance and lifecycle management initiatives. In this vital role, you will ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of critical subsurface and petroleum engineering data, empowering our technical teams to make informed decisions and maintain compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement robust technical data-management standards, procedures, workflows, and governance controls.
- Manage diverse subsurface datasets including seismic, well, log, core, production, and reservoir information.
- Ensure accurate loading, indexing, classification, versioning, storage, retrieval, and archiving of technical data.
- Maintain high standards of data quality through continuous validation, reconciliation, and metadata management.
- Administer technical data repositories, databases, and specialized applications utilized by subsurface teams.
- Control data access to guarantee compliance with information security, confidentiality, and data retention requirements.
- Coordinate the secure receipt, transfer, and delivery of technical data to partners, regulators, and contractors.
- Drive data migration, system upgrades, application integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive audit trails to ensure technical data remains traceable, recoverable, and ready for regulatory reviews.
- Provide ongoing user support, training, and operational guidance on data management systems and processes.
- Bachelor Degree in Information Management, Geoscience, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in data management, information governance, or technical applications are an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in technical data management, specifically within the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in subsurface data management, metadata quality, and repository administration.
- Strong understanding of data security, access controls, data migration, and technical application support.
