About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja, a premier 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a skilled Cyclotron Medical Physicist. In this vital role, you will oversee our advanced cyclotron facility, ensuring the safe and efficient production of medical isotopes to support our world-class oncology and diagnostic services across the African continent.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the safe, reliable, and efficient daily operation of the cyclotron facility and associated systems.
- Coordinate radionuclide production schedules to seamlessly meet clinical demands for PET imaging.
- Develop and implement rigorous quality assurance (QA) protocols and radiation safety measures.
- Ensure full compliance with the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) and international safety standards.
- Engage in research, clinical trials, and departmental innovation projects to optimize imaging applications.
- Train, mentor, and build capacity among junior medical physicists, technologists, and local staff.
- Master's or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in cyclotron operations and PET physics.
- Strong expertise in radionuclide production, radiochemistry, and radiation safety protocols.
- Proven background in implementing QA systems and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, mentoring, and academic research.
