About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a world-class 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a dedicated Molecular Pathologist to spearhead our advanced molecular diagnostic services, supporting precision medicine in oncology, haematology, and infectious diseases across Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Perform, supervise, and interpret complex molecular tests including NGS, real-time PCR, FISH, and Sanger sequencing to guide targeted therapies.
- Develop, validate, and optimize new molecular assays while maintaining rigorous laboratory protocols and SOPs.
- Ensure full regulatory compliance with international standards such as ISO 15189, CAP, and CLIA.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of molecular technologists, scientists, and pathology trainees.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams and tumor boards to provide comprehensive patient-centered diagnostic insights.
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) or PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Board Certification in Molecular Pathology or equivalent international certification.
- Valid medical license to practice in Nigeria or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience in molecular diagnostics and NGS.
