About the Role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital delivering world-class diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE Abuja is pioneering advanced healthcare delivery in West Africa. We are currently looking for a skilled Cyclotron Manager to oversee the strategic, operational, and safety management of our medical cyclotron facility, ensuring the reliable production of high-quality medical isotopes for patient care and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of the IBA Cyclone KUIBE 18 MeV cyclotron and associated equipment to ensure efficient medical isotope production.
  • Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for cyclotron systems, chemistry modules, and hot cells.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority standards, ALARA principles, and cGMP guidelines.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a multidisciplinary team of cyclotron technicians, engineers, and support staff.
  • Collaborate closely with medical physicists, radiochemists, and nuclear medicine physicians to optimize clinical workflows and radiopharmaceutical delivery.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of production logs, maintenance records, and quality control data for audit readiness.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or a related technical field; a Master's degree is highly desirable.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in cyclotron operations, with at least 2 to 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong expertise in OEM cyclotron systems (such as IBA), hot cells, and radiopharmaceutical synthesis modules.
  • In-depth knowledge of ionizing radiation regulations, radiation protection, and quality management systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
