About the Role
Athena Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT) is building Africa's next generation of business, policy, and tech leaders through flexible, practical, and impact-driven learning. We are seeking a proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Analyst to safeguard our digital infrastructure, information assets, networks, and systems against evolving cyber threats and vulnerabilities in a remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor security alerts, logs, and events across endpoints, cloud environments, and networks to identify suspicious activities.
- Investigate security incidents, analyze potential threats, and recommend effective containment and remediation measures.
- Operate and support Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms and endpoint protection tools.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with patch management and security configuration reviews.
- Collaborate with distributed IT and security teams to enforce access controls and maintain incident response documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity operations, threat monitoring, or vulnerability management.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, firewalls, SIEM tools, and common attack techniques.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or Certified SOC Analyst are a strong advantage.
