About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building a comprehensive financial ecosystem for businesses and consumers. We are seeking an analytical and execution-driven Credit Risk Analyst to serve as the embedded risk owner within one of our consumer lending product squads in Lagos. In this role, you will harmonize credit policy and portfolio management analytics to ensure every product and feature successfully balances rapid growth with robust risk controls. You will design, monitor, and refine credit policies, oversee portfolio performance, and champion a risk-by-design culture in alignment with Nigerian regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end risk assessment design for new consumer lending products and features within your squad.
- Develop and maintain credit policies and decision rules aligned with company risk appetite and CBN/MFB guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Decision Science team to develop, test, and monitor credit scoring models and scorecards.
- Monitor portfolio quality regularly and produce comprehensive performance reports covering repayment behaviour and cohort trends.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational, fraud, and process risks in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Provide actionable, risk-based input regarding product pricing, borrowing limits, and overall product design.
- Act as the primary squad liaison to central Compliance and Legal departments, escalating issues promptly.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in consumer credit portfolio management within the fintech or banking sector.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian regulatory requirements, including CBN guidelines, AML/CFT mandates, and Data Protection laws.
- Essential proficiency in SQL, with Python (NumPy, Pandas) considered a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise in credit risk management, acquisition optimization, and portfolio monitoring.
