About the Role

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in emerging markets. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our Lagos office as a Country Officer. In this high-impact role, you will work closely with the Nigeria Country Head to promote, coordinate, and execute IFC's investment and advisory strategies. You will engage extensively with top-tier private sector executives, government officials, and international development organizations to develop innovative business opportunities, structure complex transactions, and foster sustainable economic development across Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Nigeria Country Head in overseeing overall office operations, business planning, and the implementation of IFC 3.0 strategies.
  • Build and nurture high-level relationships with government officials, private sector leaders, and key World Bank Group stakeholders to generate business pipelines.
  • Participate in client selection, KYC processes, and project structuring using deep local market intelligence and financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with investment, advisory, upstream, and MIGA teams to identify bankable projects and mitigate potential investment risks.
  • Represent IFC at high-profile external events, seminars, and conferences to enhance institutional visibility and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Coordinate visiting missions, prepare comprehensive briefing materials for WBG management, and contribute to board papers and country strategy documents.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, commercial banking, management consulting, or public-private partnerships.
  • Strong background in financial analysis, credit evaluation, and transaction structuring within emerging markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and leverage high-level networks across government and corporate sectors.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and matrix-working skills with a proven track record of mentoring and supervising staff.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with outstanding public speaking and presentation abilities.
