About the Role

The Institute of Genomics and Global Health (IGH) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Officer for our prestigious STRIDE (Scientific Training and Research in Infectious Disease Genomics and Entrepreneurship) Program. Evolving from ACEGID, IGH is a pioneering research institute advancing public health in Africa through cutting-edge genomics. This remote-based role offers a unique opportunity to shape public health narratives and elevate the visibility of a landmark six-year, pan-African workforce development initiative training over 5,000 young scientists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of STRIDE's comprehensive communications strategy in alignment with program goals and donor priorities.
  • Establish and steward the program's brand identity, ensuring consistent tone and visual guidelines across all platforms.
  • Oversee the design, launch, and ongoing management of the STRIDE website and digital channels.
  • Translate complex scientific and technical achievements into accessible, compelling narratives, reports, and digital storytelling assets.
  • Act as the primary communications liaison between IGH, consortium partners, and the Mastercard Foundation.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience leading communications for complex, multi-partner international development or global health programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital communications, brand development, and translating technical data for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage donor-funded communications requirements and coordinate seamlessly across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills with a high degree of autonomy.
