About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc (formerly Lafarge Africa Plc), a leading Sub-Saharan African building solutions company, seeks an experienced Country Kiln Coach to guarantee efficiency and optimization of our burning line operations. You will work collaboratively with process, quality, and maintenance teams to enhance plant performance while developing Control Room Operators to mastery-level competency in VRM and kiln operations. This role combines operational excellence with strategic workforce development through continuous performance monitoring, evaluation, and coaching.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure application and monitoring of safety standards, advisories, procedures, and plant kiln system SOPs across all activities
- Analyze process incidents and collaborate with process control specialists to mitigate impacts and prevent future occurrences
- Coordinate comprehensive training sessions, assess trainee profiles, and structure learning groups for optimal knowledge transfer
- Develop and maintain production training calendars, roadmaps, and certification programs for CRO and patroller staff
- Present training programs to production and process engineering staff, conduct assessments, and provide post-training coaching
- Monitor trainee progress through on-job assignments and compile detailed training reports with performance feedback
- Lead incident review analysis processes, set operational objectives, and optimize kiln tracking tools using ADAP and related software
- Review clinker, cement, and raw mix quality control data to identify process deviations and gaps in optimal conditions
- Support plant operators' continuous development and ensure strict adherence to standard operation procedures
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis processes and implement recommendations for operational improvements
- Maintain 24/7 on-call availability for country plant support as required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering preferred)
- 8-10 years of post-graduate professional experience with 3-5 years specifically as a Kiln Coach
- Certified Central Control Room Operator experience in cement manufacturing
- Strong data analysis, incident reporting, and troubleshooting competencies
- Excellent communication, coordination, and technical documentation skills
- Proficiency with automation systems including QMC, LUCIE, IP21, and control loop analysis
