About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students facing academic, personal, or emotional challenges.
  • Assist students in developing effective coping strategies, time management skills, and study habits.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and orientation programs on mental health, career planning, and personal development.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with professional standards and university policies.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, faculty advisers, and student affairs units to identify and support students in distress.
  • Refer students to specialized psychiatric or medical services when necessary and follow up on their progress.

Qualifications
  • A good honours degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Guidance and Counselling or Social Work from a recognized university.
  • Mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • High level of empathy, emotional intelligence, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Good computer literacy and familiarity with student support software or administrative tools.
