About the Role
The Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking a meticulous and analytical Cost Engineer (Procurement) to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical role, you will take ownership of internal costing for all Bills of Quantities (BOQs) relating to engineering services across our vast manufacturing and operational facilities, safeguarding value for money on all engineering-related expenditures.
Key Responsibilities- Take ownership of internal costing for all Bills of Quantities (BOQs) submitted for engineering services across the organization.
- Review, interpret, and analyze BOQs submitted by vendors and contractors to verify scope, quantities, and pricing assumptions.
- Independently justify or challenge costs submitted by vendors, providing well-supported cost benchmarks and estimates.
- Develop and maintain detailed cost models and estimation templates in Microsoft Excel for engineering and maintenance works.
- Compare vendor pricing against historical costs, market rates, and engineering standards to identify discrepancies or inflated pricing.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Procurement teams to validate technical scope prior to costing.
- Provide timely costing support for planned works, major projects, and Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) activities.
- Prepare clear, well-documented costing reports and recommendations to support procurement decisions and vendor negotiations.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil), Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in cost engineering, quantity surveying, or procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex cost modeling and data analysis.
- Strong ability to interpret technical engineering documents and BOQs with high attention to detail.
- Professional certifications such as AACE, PMI, COREN, or ACEN represent an added advantage.
