About the Role
Slum and Rural Health Initiative is a dynamic nonprofit organization founded in 2017 and officially registered in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and The Gambia. We are dedicated to improving access to healthcare information and services in underserved and vulnerable African communities through advocacy, research, and technology. Our multidisciplinary team comprises healthcare professionals, social scientists, IT experts, researchers, graphic designers, and social entrepreneurs who are passionate about transforming healthcare delivery in Africa. We are currently looking for a creative and driven Copywriter / Content Writer to amplify our voice, engage our audience, and drive impactful health advocacy campaigns.
Key Responsibilities- Develop engaging, accurate, and SEO-friendly content for our website, blog, social media channels, and email newsletters.
- Translate complex health research and medical data into accessible, compelling stories for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, researchers, and healthcare professionals to create impactful awareness campaigns and advocacy materials.
- Proofread, edit, and refine existing organizational content to ensure a consistent brand voice and high editorial standards.
- Write grant proposals, donor reports, and press releases to support organizational growth and stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Health, or a related field.
- Proven professional experience as a copywriter, content writer, or communications specialist, preferably within the nonprofit or health sector.
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail.
- Deep understanding of SEO best practices, digital marketing, and social media platforms.
- Ability to synthesize complex healthcare and social research into clear, engaging, and culturally relevant narratives.
