About the Role
Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) is an international, non-profit humanitarian NGO dedicated to helping civilian victims of natural disasters, economic collapse, and conflict regain their independence and dignity. We are currently looking for a dedicated and professional Cook to join our team in Nigeria, playing a vital role in supporting our staff wellbeing by providing high-quality, balanced meals while maintaining exceptional hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious, hygienic, and balanced meals for expatriate and subscribed national staff in accordance with PUI standards.
- Maintain exemplary hygiene and sanitation standards across the kitchen, dining area, storage spaces, and food preparation surfaces.
- Manage food stocks efficiently, ensuring proper stock rotation using the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principle and monitoring expiry dates.
- Support the administration of the staff lunch subscription system by recording daily meal consumption, sharing weekly menus, and forecasting food requirements.
- Ensure the safe operation of cooking equipment, gas cylinders, and electrical appliances while promoting resource efficiency.
- Adhere strictly to food safety regulations and report any contamination risks, health concerns, or security incidents immediately.
- Proven professional experience as a cook, chef, or kitchen assistant, preferably within an NGO, hospitality, or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety protocols, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to manage food stock, practice FIFO inventory control, and handle basic administrative record-keeping tasks.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a multicultural humanitarian environment.
