About the Role

Airtel Africa is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Manager to pioneer and oversee the physical execution of the landmark Nxtra Nigeria Data Centre. In this pivotal role, you will act as the senior construction authority on site, leading end-to-end execution, multidisciplinary coordination, and construction readiness for our state-of-the-art facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day construction execution and provide strong site leadership across Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA), Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, ELV (MEPF), and specialist systems.
  • Coordinate multiple contractors, consultants, and stakeholders while managing critical CSA-MEPF interfaces, equipment foundations, and installation sequencing.
  • Monitor the integrated construction programme, critical path, key milestones, and drive short-term look-ahead planning and resource deployment.
  • Enforce high standards of construction quality, QA/QC protocols, inspection testing, and rigorous Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between construction completion, pre-commissioning, system readiness, punch-list closure, and handover documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with professional project management certifications being an advantage.
  • 18+ years of extensive construction experience, with a proven track record of leading large, complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex project interfaces, construction planning, sequencing, and contractor performance.
  • Prior Data Centre or mission-critical facility experience, particularly with hyperscale or Tier III/IV facilities, is strongly preferred.
