About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a leading indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos State, Nigeria, dedicated to the sustainable exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources across West Africa. We are currently seeking a skilled and driven Completion Engineer to join our dynamic upstream operations team. In this pivotal role, you will plan, design, and support the execution of safe, reliable, and cost-effective well completion activities that deliver optimal production and injection performance throughout the entire well lifecycle, while strictly adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive completion bases of design, programmes, and detailed equipment specifications for various well types.
- Design completion strings, tubing, packers, subsurface safety valves, sand-control systems, and related downhole equipment.
- Perform advanced completion engineering calculations and select appropriate equipment aligned with well objectives and operational envelopes.
- Provide operational support during completion installation, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Participate actively in well integrity, completion risk assessments, and technical assurance reviews.
- Coordinate third-party vendors and service companies while monitoring their technical and operational performance.
- Support the evaluation of workover, recompletion, and intervention opportunities to maximize asset value.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, operational schedules, and technical inputs for procurement and contracting processes.
- Capture lessons learned from operations and drive continuous improvement in completion performance and efficiency.
- Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant upstream completion and well engineering experience, with a strong preference for offshore operations background.
- Valid IWCF or IADC well-control certification and relevant professional engineering certifications are highly desirable.
- Strong core competencies in completion design, sand control, well integrity, risk assessment, and technical reporting.
