About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Completion Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this critical technical role, you will serve as the primary focal point for upper and lower completion applications, developing fit-for-purpose solutions, supporting flawless field execution, and driving technical excellence across the entire project lifecycle for our valued energy sector clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs an Application Engineer at Baker Hughes, you will be entrusted with driving operational success through the following duties:
- Leading the design and application engineering of upper and lower completion systems for complex offshore and onshore oil and gas projects.
- Selecting and specifying completion equipment, including production packers, SCSSVs, gas lift systems, intelligent completions, and flow control devices.
- Performing rigorous engineering analyses, including tubing stress, burst, collapse, buckling, and seal movement evaluations using tools like WellCat.
- Providing technical ownership of Open Hole Gravel Pack (OHGP) and sand control applications to guarantee well integrity.
- Acting as the primary technical interface between customers, field operations, global engineering resources, and manufacturing facilities.
- Troubleshooting field issues, leading technical failure analyses, and mentoring junior engineers within the organization.
To be considered for this exciting engineering opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 12 years of specialized completion engineering experience covering both upper and lower completions.
- Demonstrated expertise in sand control technologies, deepwater offshore systems, and Tubing Stress Analysis software.
- Proven track record of supporting major operator projects and customer-facing engineering initiatives.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
