About the Role
Sightsavers is an international organisation transforming lives by eliminating avoidable blindness and empowering people with visual impairments across more than 30 countries. We believe 80% of global blindness is preventable, and people with disabilities deserve equal opportunities. We're recruiting an experienced Communications Manager to strengthen our global communications strategy and support thematic initiatives with a particular focus on Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Lead delivery of Sightsavers' global communications strategy and thematic plans, including budget management and performance reporting
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement strategic communications activities
- Develop creative, culturally relevant communication products that resonate with diverse audiences
- Provide on-ground communications support to programme teams across Africa
- Manage team members and coordinate multi-project initiatives within tight deadlines
- Foster inclusive communication practices aligned with disability and gender inclusion principles
- Proven experience delivering global communications strategies in international development or humanitarian sectors
- Strong project management background with demonstrated results across diverse organisations
- Expertise in inclusive and accessible communications strategies
- Team leadership and multicultural collaboration experience
- Fluency in English plus one African language (Swahili, Hausa, Bemba/Nyanja, or Twi)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365
- Strong presentation and public speaking capabilities
- Genuine commitment to disability rights and social justice
- French proficiency is desirable
