About the Role
Jaza Energy, the leading last-mile energy company building solar energy charging stations and renting batteries in off-grid communities, is looking for a dynamic Commissioning Technician to join our growing team in Oyo, Nigeria. In this role, you will own the technical operations involved in our expansion process, ensuring that new service locations meet our rigorous standards for solar equipment installation and commissioning. You will report directly to the Commissioning Team Lead and collaborate closely with regional technicians, supply chain teams, and construction crews to deliver reliable clean energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare comprehensive pre-departure checklists of required tools, items, and technical equipment for allocated site commissionings.
- Commission and install solar technical equipment strictly adhering to company guidelines and documentation standards.
- Configure new sites accurately within the Star App, Dashboard, and Dataverse prior to regional handover.
- Track, update, file, and escalate technical issues efficiently using Gitlab.
- Perform remote and on-site troubleshooting to resolve Hub performance issues during the pre-go-live phase.
- Ensure 100% connectivity, verify optimal battery charge rates, and maintain accurate inventory of hub and shop equipment.
- Test emerging products and firmware while documenting project milestones and reporting progress to stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on engineering or technical experience within the renewable energy or telecommunications sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in PV system design, solar installations, and electrical maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with an unwavering commitment to HSE safety and compliance standards.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote off-grid communities and work independently.
