About the Role
Jaza Energy, a pioneering last-mile energy company building solar charging stations and renting batteries in off-grid communities, is looking for a dynamic Commissioning Technician to drive our regional expansion in Abia and Ebonyi. In this role, you will own the technical operations for new sites, ensuring that all solar equipment installations meet our rigorous pre-defined standards and empower rural communities with reliable clean energy.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare comprehensive pre-departure checklists for required tools and technical equipment before site deployment.
- Commission and install solar technical equipment at allocated sites in strict compliance with company guidelines.
- Ensure seamless digital setup of new sites across the Star App, Dashboard, and Dataverse prior to regional handover.
- Track, update, and escalate technical issues accurately using Gitlab while providing remote and on-site troubleshooting.
- Verify 100% connectivity and optimal charge rates for Jaza packs to guarantee successful go-live events.
- Maintain precise inventory records of hub and shop equipment throughout the commissioning phase.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with regional technicians, supply chain, and construction teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on engineering experience within the renewable energy, solar, or telecommunications sector.
- Strong expertise in PV system design, electrical installation, maintenance, and HSE compliance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges both remotely and in remote field locations.
- Exceptional analytical, reporting, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to off-grid communities within Abia and Ebonyi.
