About the Role
Airtel is looking for a seasoned Commercial Controller to join its finance leadership team as a strategic business partner to Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Network, Enterprise, and Digital divisions. This pivotal role combines financial planning, commercial analytics, and governance expertise to drive revenue growth, profitability, capital efficiency, and the achievement of key business objectives across the organization.
As Commercial Controller, you will play a critical role in shaping business strategy through robust performance management, insightful analysis, and strong stakeholder engagement, ensuring that commercial decisions are financially sound and aligned with long-term corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Annual Operating Plans (AOP), forecasts, budgets, and long-range financial planning
- Drive monthly business performance reviews, variance analysis, and financial guidance for strategic initiatives
- Monitor revenue, EBITDA, CAPEX, and free cash flow performance, identifying risks and opportunities
- Develop revenue forecasts across Mobile, Data, Voice, B2B, Fixed Broadband, and Digital Services
- Analyze customer acquisition, retention, ARPU, usage trends, and market share movements
- Conduct competitor benchmarking, industry analysis, and evaluate pricing strategies and product launches
- Track ROI on marketing and commercial investments
- Drive profitability analysis across network, channel, product, and customer segments
- Support cost optimization, productivity improvements, and efficient CAPEX/OPEX utilization
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Network, Customer Experience, and Enterprise teams to support commercial decision-making
- Support negotiation of major commercial contracts and partnerships
- Review and approve business cases, performing NPV, IRR, payback, and sensitivity analysis
- Evaluate new products, technologies, and strategic projects, monitoring delivery of approved benefits
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, DOA, and governance frameworks
- Drive forecasting accuracy, reporting integrity, and support internal/external audits
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packs including Board and Audit Committee decks
- Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CA)
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- MBA is desirable
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience
- Strong background in FP&A, business finance, and commercial finance
- Telecom industry experience strongly preferred
- Proven track record in stakeholder management and business partnering
