About the Role

Glitec Advanced School of Technology (GAST) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who can maintain accurate financial records, support statutory compliance, and provide valuable insights that guide strategic decision-making within our fast-growing vocational training institution.

As the Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across the organization. You will work closely with school leadership to strengthen internal controls, manage day-to-day financial operations, and support budgeting and forecasting processes that align with GAST's mission of delivering industry-ready technical education across Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable with accuracy and consistency
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and cash-flow summaries
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian tax laws and regulatory requirements
  • Reconcile bank statements regularly and promptly resolve any discrepancies
  • Provide payroll support, ensuring accurate and timely processing of staff remuneration
  • Assist in budgeting, financial planning, and cost-control initiatives
  • Advise management on financial strategies to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing systems for all financial records
  • Ensure adherence to internal control policies and best accounting practices

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) completed or in progress is an advantage
  • Proven experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
