About the Role
Ascentech Services Limited is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated CNG Compressor Operator to join our dynamic team in Arepo, close to Mowe/Ibafo, Ogun State. In this critical role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring CNG compressor packages and associated equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring seamless plant operations and adherence to top-tier industry safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate CNG compressor packages and associated equipment in strict compliance with approved operating procedures.
- Monitor compressor pressure, temperature, oil level, vibration, running hours, and other vital operating parameters.
- Carry out equipment start-up, shutdown, changeover, and routine operational checks seamlessly.
- Promptly report abnormalities, leaks, unusual sounds, vibrations, or pressure changes based on continuous performance monitoring.
- Conduct routine inspections of compressors, gas engines/motors, valves, piping, cooling, and lubrication systems.
- Respond appropriately and decisively to equipment alarms, trips, and emergency situations.
- Perform basic operational troubleshooting and escalate major mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or control faults to the maintenance team.
- Assist maintenance personnel during preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Carry out routine checks on gas detectors, emergency shutdown systems, safety valves, gauges, and other essential safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily operating logs, equipment readings, shift reports, and breakdown records.
- OND, HND, or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automobile Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience operating CNG compressors or similar gas compression equipment.
- Practical experience with reciprocating compressors is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of compressor operation, pressure systems, lubrication, cooling, and gas engines/motors.
- Basic knowledge of PLC/HMI controls, alarms, and instrumentation.
- Good understanding of CNG safety procedures, Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and emergency response.
- Ability to work shifts and respond to operational emergencies when required.
- Relevant CNG, compressor operation, safety, LOTO, or OEM training and certification will be an added advantage.
