About the Role
Pioneers Reproductive Health and Youth Association (PREHYA) is a leading non-governmental organization committed to empowering vulnerable communities, women, and children across Nigeria. We are currently seeking a passionate and driven Child Protection Officer to join our dynamic team and drive impactful community-based child welfare initiatives. In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding children, raising awareness, and implementing sustainable protection interventions in alignment with national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities- Implement comprehensive child protection activities in strict accordance with approved project plans and timelines.
- Conduct engaging community awareness sessions focusing on child protection risks, mitigation, and prevention strategies.
- Support the systematic identification, safe referral, and diligent follow-up of vulnerable children in need of specialized care.
- Strengthen local, community-based child protection mechanisms to foster long-term community resilience and ownership.
- Coordinate effectively with local service providers, civil society organizations, and relevant government structures.
- Train community stakeholders, volunteers, and partners on core child protection principles and safeguarding policies.
- Maintain accurate, highly confidential case documentation and records in compliance with data protection protocols.
- Ensure continuous adherence to organizational safeguarding, safeguarding standards, and ethical codes of conduct.
- Monitor key child protection indicators, evaluate intervention outcomes, and prepare detailed periodic progress reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law, or a closely related humanitarian or social science field.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable professional experience in child protection programming within the non-profit sector.
- Extensive hands-on experience working directly with vulnerable children, families, and marginalized communities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national and international child safeguarding standards, policies, and legal frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, and conflict-resolution skills with fluency in English.
- Exceptional report-writing abilities and proficiency in utilizing digital tools for monitoring and data management.
