About the Role
Save the Children invests in childhood every day, giving children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm. We are currently seeking a dynamic Child Health and Immunization Officer to support our maternal, newborn, and child health programs in northern Nigeria. In this vital role, you will provide technical expertise, build the capacity of local health workers, and drive impactful immunization service delivery to help transform children's lives and secure a healthier future for communities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise to ensure child health and immunization programs meet high quality and compliance standards.
- Support the Child Health and Immunization Specialist in coordinating operational research, data analysis, and documentation of lessons learned.
- Build the capacity of health facility workers and local stakeholders to implement sustainable, high-quality health programs.
- Represent Save the Children in stakeholder forums at the Local Government Area (LGA) and community levels, fostering strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with the advocacy team to target decision-makers and promote evidence-based child health initiatives.
- Support safeguarding risk assessments, ensure adherence to the Child Safeguarding Policy, and actively flag protection concerns.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Public Health, Nursing/Midwifery, or a related health field; clinical training background is strongly preferred.
- At least 3 years of professional experience implementing maternal, newborn, and child health programs in developing country settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in child survival program design, immunization service delivery, and supportive supervision.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage diverse community stakeholders.
