About the Role
PayZeep is looking for an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our operational strategy, scalability, and performance in Nigeria's dynamic fintech landscape. Individuals, SMEs, and organizations rely on PayZeep for seamless payments, deposits, and financial transactions. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will drive operational excellence, merchant expansion, and regulatory compliance across our expanding payments ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Translate Board and CEO priorities into actionable operational plans, budgets, and KPIs across all business units.
- Oversee daily payment operations, merchant acquiring, agency banking, POS services, and customer support.
- Partner with the CFO, CTO, and Risk teams to ensure strict compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations, PCI-DSS standards, and NDPA guidelines.
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable operating models, SOPs, and internal controls to support high-volume transaction growth.
- Lead business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident management to ensure uninterrupted financial service delivery.
- Build and mentor high-performing teams across Operations, Sales, People & Culture, and Product functions.
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA or Master's degree is strongly preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of professional experience, with 10+ years in fintech, banking, or financial services.
- Minimum of 7 years in senior executive or general management, including 4+ years scaling operations from the ground up.
- Deep understanding of CBN regulations, payment switching licenses, AML/CFT frameworks, and risk management practices.
