About the Role
Pacific International Drilling S.A. is a premier offshore drilling contractor operating one of the world's newest and most technologically advanced fleets of ultra-deepwater drillships. We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Chief Mate to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this critical leadership role, you will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our state-of-the-art vessels while upholding our unwavering commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Master in maintaining safe and efficient vessel operations, navigation, and cargo management in compliance with international maritime laws and company policies.
- Supervise the deck department, overseeing maintenance, marine operations, and safety protocols aboard the ultra-deepwater drillship.
- Serve as Navigational Watch Officer and maintain strict adherence to bridge watchkeeping standards.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards, leading safety meetings and hazard identification processes.
- Manage stability, ballasting, and positioning operations, collaborating closely with Dynamic Positioning (DP) personnel.
- Maritime Deck Transportation degree from a recognized Maritime College or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience as USCG Unlimited Tonnage Chief Mate upon Oceans or equivalent, supported by valid Flag State endorsements.
- Demonstrated command experience as a vessel Chief Mate and possession of a valid SSO Certificate from a recognized institution.
- Extensive experience as a Navigational Watch Officer on vessels over 3000 GRT, with Dynamic Positioning experience (minimum DP training to IMCA Phase 3) preferred.
- Educational background including SSCE/WAEC/GCE O'Level, with OND, HND, or B.Sc. degrees highly advantageous.
- Must be a Nigerian resident currently residing in Nigeria with fluent English communication skills, both oral and written.
