About the Role
HerVest is a social enterprise providing financial inclusion for women through a Gender Lens Investment (GLI) approach. We are committed to improving women’s lives through greater access to and use of financial services. We are looking for a highly technical Analytics Engineer / Data Analyst who loves building intuitive data experiences by bridging the gap between our raw database architecture and our business intelligence layer using advanced SQL and Metabase.
Key Responsibilities- Own the BI Layer: Serve as the primary administrator for our Metabase instance, building dashboards, configuring native SQL queries, and setting up field filters.
- Advanced Data Modeling: Write complex, performant SQL utilizing CTEs, window functions, and JSONB extraction in PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Query Optimization: Ensure database performance using EXPLAIN ANALYZE, suggesting indexing strategies to prevent production bottlenecks.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Translate software engineering data structures into meaningful business metrics for stakeholders.
- Data Governance: Manage SSO, user permissions, and data dictionaries for secure and accurate data access.
- 3+ years of experience writing advanced, production-grade SQL in PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Deep expertise in managing Metabase environments and building robust dashboards.
- Strong understanding of relational database architecture and query performance.
- Exceptional analytical mindset with the ability to translate vague business questions into clear visualizations.
- Familiarity with version control (Git), dbt, Python, or TypeScript is a strong plus.
