About the Role
HReade is recruiting a skilled and dedicated Chief Electrician on behalf of our client in the oil and gas sector. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment on our land drilling rig, ensuring optimal power availability and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of rig electrical systems including generators, SCR systems, switchgear, and transformers.
- Maintain electrical components of drilling equipment such as the Driller's Console, Top Drive System, drawworks, and mud pumps.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs using the Company's CMMS and ensure adherence to OEM recommendations.
- Monitor critical electrical equipment performance and execute timely corrective actions for faults.
- Manage spare parts inventories, consumables, and tools required for continuous rig operations.
- Enforce HSE compliance, Permit to Work (PTW), and LOTO protocols across all electrical activities.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate assigned electrical personnel and drive safety leadership.
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in drilling and workover operations, with at least 2 years as a Chief Electrician on a land rig.
- Strong hands-on experience with SCR systems, power generation, and rig electrical troubleshooting.
- Valid medical fitness certification for rig deployment and relevant HSE certifications.
