About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc (formerly Lafarge), a global leader in building materials and sustainable construction solutions, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Central Control Room Operator to join our dynamic production team. In this pivotal role, you will organise and coordinate the production shift team to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations while continuously optimising effectiveness and cost per tonne.
Key Responsibilities- Control all major process lines within the cement manufacturing operation, including equipment commissioning, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency management.
- Continuously monitor plant process lines to ensure employee safety, stable equipment operation, and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Direct the activities of patrollers, process assistants, and mobile plant operators to maintain smooth workflows.
- Monitor production results and key performance indicators, making real-time adjustments to systems to maintain product quality.
- Serve as the Plant Emergency Response Coordinator during serious production, environmental, or safety incidents.
- Champion the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures for the Production Department and lead safety meetings.
- Maintain comprehensive production and equipment reliability logs while assisting in the training and performance reviews of shift personnel.
- Completion of a professional-level CCRO certification programme is required.
- Possession of an OND in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Chemistry, or Physics) along with 2-3 years of process industry experience, or 5-8 years of direct experience in the cement industry.
- Strong knowledge of the operation and control of Vertical Roller Mill, Kiln, and Finish Mill systems.
- Good understanding of product quality parameters, quality control tests, and computer-aided kiln and mill operation systems.
