About the Role
St Dominic Catholic Hospital, a 64-bed faith-based institution providing primary and secondary medical services, is recruiting a professional Cashier for its Finance Department. In this role, you will be the financial interface between our patients and the hospital, ensuring accurate payment processing, meticulous record-keeping, and exceptional service delivery. You must demonstrate strong numerical skills, unwavering integrity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all financial policies.
Key Responsibilities- Process patient and customer payments via cash, POS terminals, bank transfers, and other approved channels
- Issue official receipts and verify patient bills before transaction processing
- Balance daily cash collections and reconcile all transactions at close of business
- Prepare and submit detailed daily cash reports to the Finance Department
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions with supporting documentation
- Safeguard cash and financial instruments with strict accountability measures
- Address patient billing inquiries professionally and promptly
- Collaborate with the Accounts Department to resolve billing discrepancies
- Report discrepancies, shortages, or suspicious transactions immediately to Management
- Ensure full compliance with hospital financial policies and internal control procedures
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient financial information
- Minimum OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Cashier, Finance Assistant, or Customer Service Officer
- Healthcare facility experience is advantageous
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Professional certification in Accounting or Finance preferred
