About the Role
Borno Women Development Initiative (BOWDI) is a dynamic women-led, registered non-governmental, non-profit organization headquartered in Borno State, Nigeria. Dedicated to driving sustainable humanitarian and development initiatives across the Northeast, BOWDI actively implements impactful programs in education, peace-building, advocacy, food security, livelihoods, and critical protection services. We are currently seeking a compassionate, skilled, and results-driven Caseworker / PSS Officer to join our dedicated team and contribute to our mission of uplifting vulnerable communities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the specific needs, vulnerabilities, and risks of beneficiaries requiring protection and psychosocial support.
- Design, implement, and monitor individualized casework plans, ensuring timely referrals and follow-ups for specialized services.
- Facilitate regular individual and group psychosocial support (PSS) sessions for trauma survivors, women, children, and other at-risk populations.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case management documentation in compliance with standard data protection protocols.
- Collaborate closely with local stakeholders, community leaders, and multidisciplinary humanitarian teams to foster a supportive and protective environment.
- Participate in community sensitization and outreach campaigns to raise awareness on available support services, mental health, and protection rights.
- Prepare regular, accurate progress reports detailing casework activities, emerging protection trends, and recommendations for program improvement.
- Possession of a relevant university degree or higher national diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Guidance, or a related field.
- Proven professional experience working as a caseworker, PSS officer, or in a similar protection role within the humanitarian or NGO sector.
- Deep understanding of protection principles, survivor-centered approaches, and confidentiality ethics in humanitarian contexts.
- Strong interpersonal, active listening, and counseling skills with the ability to manage stressful and sensitive situations with empathy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages spoken in Northeast Nigeria (Hausa and/or Kanuri).
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in utilizing basic digital tools for reporting and documentation.
