About the Role
Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Business Development / VSLA Officer to support our growing humanitarian and environmental interventions in Northeast Nigeria. FOURCi is a dynamic non-profit organization uniting academics, environmentalists, agricultural experts, health professionals, and community volunteers to safeguard our climate and empower vulnerable populations across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states. In this vital role, you will champion our Livelihood and Climate Smart Agriculture initiatives by strengthening community-based financial inclusion structures, specifically Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), and fostering sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate the mobilization, formation, and training of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) within target communities in the BAY states.
- Design and implement innovative business development strategies to enhance the livelihoods and income-generating capacities of program beneficiaries.
- Train community groups on financial literacy, enterprise management, record keeping, and group dynamics.
- Collaborate with agricultural and environmental experts to integrate climate-smart practices into local businesses and micro-enterprises.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of VSLAs, ensuring regular savings, transparent loan disbursements, and timely repayments.
- Forge strategic partnerships with local stakeholders, cooperatives, and microfinance institutions to enhance market access for program participants.
- Prepare accurate and timely progress reports, case studies, and documentation of project milestones and success stories.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Agriculture, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of proven experience in VSLA implementation, community development, or microfinance within the non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of livelihood programming, poverty reduction strategies, and climate-smart agriculture principles.
- Exceptional facilitation, training, and community mobilization skills, particularly in culturally diverse and fragile environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in local languages spoken in Northeast Nigeria being a distinct advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data collection tools.
