About the Role
Chabash Development and Health Initiative (CDHI) is a prominent non-governmental organization dedicated to community resilience and humanitarian response in Nigeria, working closely with key state and national stakeholders. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Officer to lead the technical execution of market-driven interventions, micro-enterprise growth, and financial inclusion under the WFP-supported Integrated Food System and Resilience Project in Jakusko LGA, Yobe State. This role focuses on transitioning smallholder farmers, youth, and women from subsistence production to commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct market system assessments, value-chain analyses, and commercial feasibility studies for key agricultural commodities.
- Support the establishment and institutional capacity development of farmer cooperatives and women agro-processing groups.
- Design business models for community post-harvest hubs, processing units, and storage facilities to maximize income generation.
- Facilitate access to financial services by supporting Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and micro-finance opportunities.
- Connect smallholder producer groups directly to local markets, off-takers, and agro-dealers to ensure fair pricing.
- Deliver training modules on basic entrepreneurship, record-keeping, financial literacy, and risk management.
- Maintain strict adherence to PSEA, anti-fraud, and Do-No-Harm humanitarian principles across all activities.
- Bachelor degree or HND in Agribusiness, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in enterprise development, value-chain promotion, or agribusiness within humanitarian settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in market systems development, VSLA management, and smallholder market linkages.
- Professional fluency in English and Hausa, with deep knowledge of Yobe State market dynamics.
- Strong negotiation, enterprise coaching, and community engagement skills.
