About the Role
Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc, Nigeria's premier and largest national primary mortgage bank, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Branch Internal Control Officer. In this vital role, you will safeguard the bank's assets, ensure strict adherence to regulatory standards, and maintain robust operational integrity at the branch level. Key Responsibilities- Review cash, vault, and teller transactions to ensure proper authorization and adherence to financial limits.
- Monitor general ledger proofs, suspense accounts, and daily cash movements for discrepancies.
- Examine customer account operations and verify comprehensive Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation.
- Review loan disbursements, collateral documentation, and monitor emerging delinquency trends.
- Monitor e-channel transactions and perform timely reconciliations for all settlement discrepancies.
- Conduct routine spot checks on branch assets and enforce strict internal policy compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive internal control reports and actively follow up on outstanding audit exceptions.
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Three to five (3-5) years of proven experience in internal control, branch operations, or audit within the financial services sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and modern automated monitoring tools.
- Strong working knowledge of credit, cash handling, funds transfer, and operational risk controls.
- Uncompromising integrity, exceptional attention to detail, and advanced analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Professional certifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIBN, or CISA will be an added advantage.
