About the Role
St. Columbanus Secondary School (SCOSSI) is a prominent co-educational Catholic mission boarding school located in Ikwen, Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Founded in 1959 by the St. Patrick Missionary Fathers, Kiltegan, and operating under the Catholic Diocese of Ikot Ekpene, we are renowned for combining rigorous academics with strong moral formation. We are currently looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to maintain financial integrity, manage ledgers, and support the administrative finance operations of our growing institution.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, general ledgers, and day-to-day accounting transactions.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently, ensuring timely reconciliation of school fees and vendor payments.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budget forecasts, and cash flow statements for school management.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparations, ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations and school policies.
- Manage payroll processing, employee tax deductions, and statutory remittances as required by Nigerian tax laws.
- Handle petty cash management and maintain proper documentation for all financial disbursements.
- Minimum of an OND, HND, or B.Sc in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Proven professional experience as a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or similar financial role, preferably within an educational institution.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, high ethical standards, and absolute integrity in handling financial data.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Akwa Ibom State.
