About the Role
Nigerdock, West Africa's leading industrial corporation focused on oil and gas construction and marine services, is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Boat Captain to join our dynamic marine operations team in Lagos. Key Responsibilities- Safely navigate and operate assigned vessels in strict accordance with maritime laws, international standards, and company procedures.
- Ensure the absolute safety of all passengers, crew, vehicles, and the boat during every transit.
- Monitor changing weather conditions and sea states to make critical, informed operational decisions.
- Organize vessel fueling processes and accurately maintain fuel consumption records and logs.
- Monitor and record passenger and vehicle manifests after every completed trip.
- Report any incidents, potential damages, or safety concerns immediately to the marine administrator.
- Perform additional marine-related tasks and duties as instructed by the marine administrator.
- Valid boat captain license and relevant certificate of competency.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven professional experience operating passenger and/or cargo vessels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maritime safety regulations, inland waterways, and navigation procedures.
- Certified training in basic first aid and fire safety.
- Strong leadership, crew management, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound, decisive judgments under pressure.
- Must possess strong swimming capabilities and meet physical fitness requirements.
