About the Role
Nigerdock Nigeria Plc - FZE, West Africa's leading industrial corporation focused on oil and gas construction and major marine services, is looking for a skilled Boat Captain to join our dynamic maritime team. Based at our strategic Snake Island Integrated Free Zone facility in Lagos, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our vessels while upholding our commitment to the highest health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities- Safely navigate and operate assigned vessels in accordance with international maritime laws and company procedures.
- Prioritize and ensure the absolute safety of all passengers, crew, cargo, and the watercraft at all times.
- Monitor changing weather and sea conditions to make sound, timely operational and navigational decisions.
- Organize vessel fueling processes and accurately maintain up-to-date fuel record documentation.
- Complete passenger and vehicle log papers immediately following the completion of every trip.
- Report any incidents, damages, maintenance issues, or safety concerns promptly to the marine administrator.
- Perform additional marine and operational tasks as instructed by the marine administrator.
- Valid Boat Captain license and relevant Certificate of Competency.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience operating passenger and cargo vessels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maritime safety regulations, navigation procedures, and local waterways.
- Certified training in Basic First Aid and Fire Safety.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and communication skills to effectively manage onboard crew.
- Proven ability to make critical, sound decisions under high-pressure situations.
- Must possess strong swimming capabilities and meet all physical health requirements.
