About the Role
Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), a division of FirstRand Bank Limited, is a premier African corporate and investment bank with a footprint across more than 35 countries. We are currently looking for a diligent and analytical Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) Credit Analyst to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting independent credit assessments, portfolio monitoring, and risk management across sovereign, banking, insurance, and other financial sector exposures.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough credit analysis and financial evaluations for assigned banks, sovereigns, NBFIs, and development finance institutions.
- Review annual reports, regulatory filings, and financial statements to assess capital adequacy, asset quality, and liquidity.
- Prepare comprehensive credit applications, annual reviews, and credit memoranda for internal approval committees.
- Monitor counterparties continuously to identify emerging credit risks, rating migrations, and limit breaches.
- Liaise with relationship managers, treasury teams, and external stakeholders to support due diligence and risk governance.
- Maintain accurate credit records, financial spreading databases, and ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or a related business field with a minimum of Second-Class Upper division.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in credit analysis, risk management, financial auditing, or corporate banking within a reputable financial institution.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and financial statement analysis skills, specifically regarding financial institutions.
- Exceptional report-writing and communication abilities, with a high degree of integrity, time management, and self-motivation.
- Progress toward or interest in professional qualifications like ACA, ACCA, CFA, or PRM is an added advantage.
