About the Role
Botoffice is looking for a talented Backend Engineer (Node.js) to help build and scale our conversational banking platform in Lagos. In this role, you will empower customers to seamlessly send money, pay bills, and manage accounts through an intuitive chat assistant. You will own features from design to production, directly impacting conversational quality and transaction reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Build robust Node.js chat flows with reliable session state and clear customer messaging.
- Test intent routing and answers against replay cases while guarding model outputs.
- Integrate banking APIs incorporating safe retries, idempotency, and thorough reconciliation.
- Investigate production incidents using logs, SQL, Redis, and Linux servers.
- Ship comprehensive unit tests, replay fixtures, and security fixes alongside new features.
- Review code, maintain merge notes, and update operational runbooks.
- 4 to 8 years of overall professional software development experience.
- At least 4 years of hands-on production Node.js backend development.
- Strong expertise in Express, long-running stateful services, SQL, and Redis.
- Proven experience with third-party API integration, including REST, SOAP, and XML.
- Solid understanding of transaction idempotency, payment failure handling, and Linux incident response.
- Familiarity with LLM intent routing, replay-based evaluation, and deterministic AI output guardrails.
