We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer specialised in Java to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure and scalable backend applications that power our customer-facing products. Key Responsibilities- Design and develop secure, scalable, and maintainable APIs and application business logic using Java.
- Design robust database structures and optimise application and database interactions.
- Apply transaction and concurrency management, ensuring idempotency for critical operations.
- Build resilient applications that handle retries, duplicate requests, and partial failures safely.
- Implement stringent authentication, authorisation, and application-security controls to protect sensitive data.
- Substantial hands-on experience building and maintaining production backend services in Java.
- Proficiency with Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks, relational databases, SQL, and REST API design.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous and event-driven architecture, caching, and application security.
- Familiarity with Git, automated testing, containerisation, and modern deployment pipelines.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience in fintech or payment services is a strong advantage.
